The prominent political analyst Lou Dobbs has passed away at the age of 78. Renowned for his work at CNN and Fox News, Dobbs was a polarizing figure, particularly noted for his comments regarding Barack Obama.
In a message of condolence shared on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump referred to Dobbs as “an incredible talent” and a “friend and truly amazing reporter, journalist, and artist.” Trump further remarked, “Lou was unique, and he loved our nation.”
Dobbs began his career at KBLU radio in Arizona before transitioning to television in the mid-1970s, where he joined NBC’s King-TV in Seattle. He was among the first reporters at CNN, hosting the business news program Moneyline starting in 1980.
His departure from CNN in 2009 was prompted by controversies related to his coverage of illegal immigration. In 2010, he began hosting “Lou Dobbs Tonight” on Fox Business, a role he maintained until the program’s cancellation in 2021. Fox News Media expressed their condolences by describing Dobbs as “an amazing businessman with a gift for broadcasting” and acknowledging his significant contributions to cable news. He is survived by his wife, Debi, and their six children.
