Sydney: A plane carrying three tourists crashed into the ocean off the coast of Western Australia after taking off from Rottnest Island, a popular Australian tourist destination, in the incident, killing three people and rescuing four others.
Australian authorities said the victims included a 65-year-old Swiss woman, a 60-year-old Danish man and a 34-year-old local pilot. A 63-year-old Swiss man was rescued along with a 58-year-old Danish woman and an Australian couple in their 60s.
According to reports, the plane hit a rock while taking off from a tourist area, flew for a short while, then plunged headlong into the ocean. Australian authorities are investigating and looking for additional reasons for the crash of the tourist plane.
