Television personality and host Chuck Woolery will be remembered as one of the most cherished figures in the realm of game shows. Woolery, recognized as the inaugural host of Wheel of Fortune, passed away at the age of 83 due to an illness. The news was confirmed by his long-time friend Mark Young, who shared on X, “It is with a broken heart that I tell you that my dear brother @chuckwoolery has just passed away. Life will not be the same without him, RIP brother.” According to reports from TMZ, Young recounted that Woolery had expressed feeling unwell and decided to lie down. He later returned to indicate that he was experiencing difficulty breathing. Young stated that 911 was called, but unfortunately, Woolery did not survive. In addition to Wheel of Fortune, Woolery also hosted other notable game shows such as Love Connection and Lingo. In his later years, he hosted the podcast Blunt Force Truth, a well-known right-wing podcast where he articulated his conservative perspectives. Woolery was born on March 16, 1941, in Ashland, Kentucky. He initially ventured into music, forming the band The Avant-Garde with Elkin “Bubba” Fowler in 1967, and their song Naturally Stoned contributed to their rise to fame.
Woolery was married four times and was inducted into the American TV Game Show Hall of Fame in 2007. He will be remembered as a person who brought joy to millions. May he rest in peace.
