Carmen Bryan, aged 52, has once again brought Jay-Z into the spotlight following allegations of his sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in 2000. In a recent Instagram post, Carmen expressed her views, stating, “Nowadays, individuals do not stand up for what is right; they support those they favor! This is why we refer to you as ‘groupie.’” In her memoir, she referred to herself as the “hip hop Helen of Troy” and drew attention to previous controversies by sharing lyrics from Kanye West’s song “Monster,” in which Jay-Z rapped: “I Rape and pillage your village, women and children.” Jay-Z has denied these allegations, asserting that they are part of a “blackmail attempt.”
Carmen’s relationship with Jay-Z, which lasted from 1995 to 2004, was marked by scandal. During their time together, she became pregnant but unfortunately suffered a miscarriage. The relationship ended after Jay-Z’s song “Supa Ugly” revealed private details about their affair, including a mention of used condoms found in her daughter’s car seat. Reflecting on this, Carmen remarked, “Wrong move! That was the moment I lost all respect for SC.”
The affair with Jay-Z also created tension with her then-fiancé, Nas, who is the father of her daughter Destiny. Following the release of “Is That Your Chick,” Nas confronted Carmen, leading her to confess to the five-year relationship. In her memoir, “It’s No Secret,” she detailed the painful aftermath, including a late-night admission to Nas: “The rumors are true. I have been seeing Jay-Z.”
