The Ukrainian military said on Thursday it had shot down 46 of the 70 drones used by Russian forces in attacks on several areas in central and eastern Ukraine.

Debris from the downed drones damaged homes in the cities of Cherkasy, Kharkiv and Sumy, the Ukrainian Air Force said.

Ukraine’s air defense forces have also shot down drones in Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Poltava and other cities.

The attack came a day after a Russian missile strike hit the city of Zaporizhzhia, killing at least 13 people and wounding 30 others.

“There is nothing more barbaric than the bombing of a city from the air, knowing that civilians will suffer,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Wednesday.

The Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday that it had shot down 15 Ukrainian drones, including over the cities of Belgorod, Bryansk and Krasnodar, which lie along the Russian-Ukrainian border.

Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said on Telegram that debris from the drone had damaged a house, but that there were no deaths or injuries from the Ukrainian attack.
